Last year, Nedbank Namibia launched the #GetMoneyFit campaign to empower Namibians with the confidence, discipline and practical tools needed to take ownership of their financial journeys. Much like an athlete training with purpose and commitment, financial fitness is built through informed choices, consistency and the right support. This is the mindset that guides our work, and it is the same lens through which we approach our 2026 pricing adjustments. Fair, transparent and responsible pricing is a critical part of helping our clients make smarter financial decisions and move steadily toward long‑term wellbeing.

Recent public discussions on banking fees in Namibia have been timely and constructive. National fee comparisons and insights from market analysts have underscored an important truth: while access to bank accounts has expanded across the country, affordability and clarity in day‑to‑day banking costs remain essential to deepening meaningful financial inclusion. Analysts further highlight that price comparability in payments is one of the most effective ways to influence behaviour and encourage the shift from cash to digital transactions, an area where frictionless, cost‑effective solutions matter.

Against this backdrop, Nedbank Namibia has carefully reviewed and refined its pricing structure for 2026, which will take effect on 2 March 2026. Our focus remains anchored on affordability, value and inclusion, especially in areas where national comparisons show the greatest cost pressures for consumers. Updating our pricing annually is part of our commitment to delivering fair, competitive and transparent banking that supports both everyday needs and long‑term financial resilience.

Responsible pricing also enables us to sustain the high‑quality banking experience our clients deserve. It ensures we can continue investing in innovation, digital capability and service excellence, elements essential to a modern, future‑fit financial system. At the same time, our pricing model intentionally includes sustainability contributions, with a portion of all home and vehicle finance directed to the Nedbank Go Green Fund. Through this fund, every client who finances a home or vehicle helps support tangible conservation, education and sustainable development initiatives across Namibia.

This year, we have taken additional steps to strengthen low‑cost, entry‑level banking. Local debit card swipe fees on our Basic Bank account have been reduced by 17%, and internet banking subscription fees for youth accounts have been removed entirely. In a market where transaction‑based fees often discourage account usage, these changes directly support everyday digital transactions and align with the intent of the basic bank account framework set by the regulator.

We are also enhancing value‑based pricing for clients seeking more holistic solutions. Our Silver Pay‑As‑You‑Use (PAYU) account now includes embedded funeral cover of N$5 000, alongside reductions of 13% in local debit card swipe fees and 18% in internet banking subscription fees. This approach recognises that value extends beyond pricing: meaningful benefits provide security and support for families when they need it most.

In response to concerns raised in fee comparison reports about the cost of recurring transactions, we have significantly reduced internal debit order fees. For many households, debit orders are essential tools for managing monthly commitments such as rent, utilities and insurance. Lowering these fees reduces monthly pressure and supports greater financial stability.

We have also introduced a nominal home loan monthly maintenance fee, aligned with industry norms, to ensure continued investment in secure systems and personalised service. This helps maintain the long‑term quality and reliability of our home loan offering. Finally, to improve the affordability of credit for lower‑income clients, we have implemented a tiered pricing structure for personal loan administration fees, with a minimum fee of N$500. This ensures fairer access to credit across income segments.

Through these enhancements, Nedbank is reaffirming its role as a partner in building a financially confident nation. The #GetMoneyFit campaign encourages Namibians to approach their finances with the same discipline and long‑term thinking that drives athletic performance. Financial wellbeing does not happen by chance but is strengthened through responsible decisions, supportive tools and consistent guidance. By combining thoughtful pricing with practical solutions, Nedbank is helping clients not only bank better but live better. Together, we are working to help Namibia #GetMoneyFit.
