Nedbank Namibia announces record-breaking bursary awards for 2025
21 May 2025 - In May, Nedbank Namibia announced the allocation of over N$800,000 in bursaries for the year 2025, marking the largest investment in the bursary scheme since its inception in 2019. This significant contribution underscores the bank's commitment to supporting education and empowering future leaders.
The bursary program is designed to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in various fields, helping to alleviate the financial burden and enable them to focus on their studies.
The 2025 bursary allocation includes 7 current external bursary holders from 2024, 4 new external bursaries, and 18 internal bursaries. The external awardees include, Elifas Shindinge who is pursuing an honours in Computer Science, Adolf David who is pursuing a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Chris Christiano who is pursuing an bachelor degree in Mining Engineering, and Mpho Lubinda who is pursuing a bachelor degree Quantitative Finance.
The internal awardees include, Jame-Lee Klein who is pursuing a Diploma in Banking, Finance and Credit; Chantel Katjinaani who is pursuing a Diploma in Banking, Finance and Credit; Rejoice Kasaona who is pursuing a Diploma in Banking, Finance and Credit; Cynthia van Wyk who is pursuing a Diploma in Banking, Finance and Credit; Josef Nitzborn who is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration; Anzel van Zyl who is pursuing a Bachelor in Commerce Law; Moses Nananga who is pursuing a Bachelor of Informatics; Taschiona Gawaxab who is pursuing BSc (Hons) Computing; Carroll Elliot who is pursuing a Higher Certificate in Management, Romanno Swartz who is pursuing a Bachelor in Business Information Systems, Ulrich Lehmann who is pursuing a Bachelor in Commerce Law, Justinus Kandjimi who is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management; Johnny Mushindi who is pursuing a Diploma in Business Information; Roberto Bezuidenhout who is pursuing a Bachelor in Computer Science, Morgan Kronhe who is pursuing a Bachelor of Marketing; Rene //Kharases who is pursuing a Master of Business Administration; Jequess Murphy who is pursuing a Diploma in Banking, Finance and Credit; and Dave Angulah who is pursuing a Bachelor of Informatics.
Nedbank Namibia Executive for Human Capital, Bianca Muller, said:
‘We are thrilled to be able to support so many deserving individuals through our bursary program.’
Muller added:
‘Education is a cornerstone of personal and professional growth, and we are committed to investing in the future of our employees and the broader community.’
In March 2025, Nedbank Namibia also launched the NNH Education Trust, a new initiative aimed at providing educational support to its employees and their dependents. Through this trust, 16 staff members and 8 dependents of staff will receive financial assistance, further demonstrating the bank's dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within its workforce.
Muller also spoke on the newly established NNH Education Trust, by mentioning that the NNH Education Trust further extends this support to the bank's employees and their dependents, ensuring that they have access to the resources needed to achieve their educational goals.
