The Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Series 2 (WPP) concluded this past weekend at Teufelsschlucht following a two-day programme of competitive racing. The event, which took place on 17-18 January, drew a total of 285 participants. The cyclists took on various race categories with distances ranging from 20km to 120km.

Sunday’s race delivered decisive elite victories, with Drikus Coetzee securing the Elite Men’s win and Vera Looser claiming top honours in the Elite Women’s race.

Coetzee crossed the line first in the Elite Men’s category with a finishing time of 02:50:10. He was followed by Ingram Cuff in second place and Theuns van der Westhuizen in third.

Coetzee described the day as a collective effort, stating: ‘The day was fantastic. As part of the Hollard team, we had a perfect plan and executed it very well.’

In the Elite Women’s race, Looser took the win in a time of 02:34:19, Anri Greef finished second, while Maja Jeanne Brinkmann completed her race and took the third-place honours.

Reflecting on the race, Looser said: ‘It was a super flat race, and the wind played a massive role in the outcome. The race was also interesting as we raced the master men in this race, which is quite exciting. It makes the race more attractive to us, but also much harder.’

Windhoek Pedal Power Race Coordinator, Stefanus Feris, highlighted the significance of the weekend and the continued support behind the series: ‘The series wouldn’t be possible without Nedbank, so we’re grateful for that. With the cyclists that are participating and the big turnout, and spectators that come to assist and cheer on the riders, these are the elements that we need in cycling to make it successful and a growing sport.’

He added: ‘This race is always a fast and very well raced which makes the turnout bigger than other races. In general, it was successful and it was a good race.’

The success of the WPP2 race further underscored Nedbank Namibia’s longstanding contribution to the development of cycling in the country. Reflecting on this achievement, the banks’ Chief Commercial Officer JG Van Graan, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to supporting initiatives that encourage active, healthy lifestyles: The Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Race Series continues to demonstrate our commitment to meaningful community investment. It provides riders with consistent, well-organised racing opportunities—exactly what the sport needs to grow. That consistency, coupled with our focus on community wellbeing, is why Nedbank remains a proud supporter of the series.’

Van Graan added: ‘As money experts who do good, Nedbank Namibia continues to back causes that strengthen communities and help Namibians live healthier, more fulfilling lives.’
