Nedbank for Good Series dazzles up north

The Nedbank for Good Series left an indelible mark on the northern regions, with a competitive showcase of golf in rounds 5, 6, and 7 in Oshakati, Tsumeb, and Grootfontein between June and July.

Speaking after the completion of round 7 in Grootfontein this past Saturday, 18 July, Dan Zwiebel from DZ Golf, expressed immense satisfaction with the tournament, saying everything went well: ‘The northern swing of the Nedbank for Good Series has been an absolute triumph. The tournaments went exceptionally well, and we are thrilled by the participation levels, the vibrant atmosphere, and the deep community engagement at every single stop. Seeing local communities rally behind the sport and the cause reinforces the true spirit of the Nedbank for Good Series. The enthusiasm on and off the courses and the hospitality at the courses have truly set a high benchmark for the remainder of the tour.’

The northern action commenced with round 5 at the Oshakati Golf Club on 20 June. In the men's competition, David Johannes delivered a masterful performance, carding a superb score of 38 points to claim the top spot. The ladies' section was equally competitive, with Eveline Ndapanda Shilongo playing a clinical round of golf to take top honours. 

Next up in the series was Round 6 at the Tsumeb Golf Club on 27 June, which Zwiebel described as ‘the club with the best atmosphere’.

A strong field of 48 players took to the course, including four ladies, three of whom travelled all the way from Windhoek to support the series.

The event also saw the return of local favourite Jax Coetzee, who was making her first appearance in the Nedbank for Good Series.Coetzee thrilled the home crowd by securing the top of the ladies' section with a brilliant 37 points. In the men's division, Tiaan de Lange took the honours with a superb 38 points.

Round 7 in Grootfontein saw competitive debutant Surien Shetukana claim victory with in the women's section. In the men’s division, Videlis Hanganda claimed top honours with 42 points, followed by David Johannes on 38 points counted in. Third place went to Festus Shetukana, who also scored 38 points but was counted out.

Zwiebel thanked the local organising members of the three golf clubs, saying they had done a wonderful job in preparing the courses for the series.

Proceeds from this year's Nedbank for Good Series will directly benefit Agra ProVision, which aims to provide training, services, and support to underserved agricultural communities. This partnership aims to support Namibia’s rural sectors through empowering small-scale farmers, providing training, and fostering sustainable farming practices.

Nedbank Namibia's Communications and Public Relations Manager, Selma Kaulinge, commended the tournament's extensive reach and social impact, stating that taking the series nationwide promotes grassroots sport development by dismantling traditional barriers and encouraging inclusive participation: ‘The Nedbank for Good Series provides invaluable opportunities for people to connect and build relationships, all while supporting a noble cause that drives national development. As money experts who do good, the vision of the organisers aligns with our commitment to making golf accessible to all Namibians.’ 

Up next, the Nedbank for Good Series 2026 heads to Oranjemund Golf Club for Round 8 on 1 August, before going to Mariental Golf Club on 15 August, followed by Rossmund Golf Course on 29 August, Walvis Bay Golf Club on 5 September, Henties Bay Golf & Lifestyle Estate on 12 September, and Omeya Golf Club on 26 September. 

The final will take place in Windhoek at the Windhoek Golf Club on Friday, 13 November 2026.
