The 2023 edition of the Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power (WPP) Race Series commences this coming Sunday at Dordabis, in Windhoek.
Part one of the six-race series, starts at 07h00 and is set to have 200 registered cyclists ready to take on the road race in categories ranging from men and women’s teams, individual, as well as a sport category for the newbies.
Brian Key from the Windhoek Pedal Power Cycling Club believes that this edition of the Nedbank WPP race will excite cyclists.
“It can be assumed that it is a fairly less technical race, therefore cyclists will think it is not intense, however, the race route tests each cyclist’s stamina and strength. We expect cyclists to be set and energized for this race as they are fresh out of the festive season, where there was enough time to train and prepare for the first race of the year,” he mentioned.
The Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Series is open to all local cyclists. Key added that cyclists who wish to take part in the race series are required to join the Windhoek Pedal Power Cycling Club. “Annual membership fees are N$ 525 for adults, N$ 315 for juniors, and N$1050 for a family membership.” He added.
"Cyclists across all ages are welcome to join the club. We do however have an option for cyclists who do not wish to join the club but would like to take part in the races exclusively. A rate of N$ 200 per person is payable for each race in the series for cyclists who wish to participate without joining the club. Interested cyclists can contact us for more information," Key stated.
The Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Race Series is the first of three cycling events Nedbank Namibia will be hosting in the first two months of 2023. Nedbank Namibia Communications and PR Manager, Selma Kaulinge, expounded on the banks’ contribution to cycling.
“It is already all systems go on our cycling calendar, and we are excited for yet another season of cycling. Nedbank Namibia’s contribution to cycling continues to positively influence the growth of the sport in our country, and the Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Race Series are a testament to that commitment.
